Results of the Building Plan Study

10-30-2016Weekly ReflectionFr. Will Schmid

Dear Saint Mary Magdalene Parishioners,

I would like to extend a special thanks to those who participated in the recent planning study conducted at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. We received a wonderful response from the parish, feedback that is extremely beneficial as we look to the future of Saint Mary Magdalene.

After gathering and analyzing data from the study (90 personal interviews and 316 mail and online surveys), representatives from the Steier Group reported their findings to the parish leadership on Sept. 29, 2016. The feedback they received did not surprise us. Here is a sampling:

  • Parishioners generally believe St. Mary Magdalene is a vibrant, youthful and joyful parish with excellent pastors, programs and staff.
  • Parishioners agree we are in desperate need of a dedicated parish hall and a permanent church and there is significant support for a major fundraising effort:
    • 83% of respondents are personally in favor of a capital campaign.
    • 85% of respondents indicated that they will make a personal gift to the campaign.
    • 101 respondents indicated that they would serve in campaign leadership positions.

Based on the information above, the Steier Group recommended that our parish move forward with a three-year capital campaign and projected we could raise $3.5 million to $4.5 million. Our parish leadership was in full agreement and voted to proceed with the effort. I am currently working with the diocese to finalize our plans to move forward with this major milestone. You will hear much more about this important project in the coming weeks and months.

Once again, thank you for participating in this critical study for Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Your input has been extremely beneficial and will help to ensure the success of our upcoming campaign. With the Lord guiding us and our parish, I have no doubt our efforts will be abundantly blessed.

God Bless,
Rev. Will Schmid, Pastor
