As we look ahead to the fall, I am grateful to share with you several exciting developments taking place here at St. Mary Magdalene. Our parish continues to grow -not only in size and activity, but, most importantly, in our shared mission to deepen our faith, strengthen our community, and bring Christ to others.

Bringing the Church to Those Who Cannot Come to Us

There are parishioners in our community who long to be with us at Mass but are unable due to illness, age, or injury. The Pastoral Care Ministry to the Sick and Homebound exists to bring the Church to those who are confined to their home, hospital, or nursing homes - offering them Holy Communion, a compassionate presence, prayer, and a sense of community and belonging.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some good news regarding several important parish projects and developments. Before doing so, I want to welcome our new Parochial Vicar, Fr. John Greb. Fr. Greb comes to us from St. Timothy’s parish and began ministry here at our parish this past week. He now joins Fr. Darius and I in serving you and your families.

When Jesus said, "I was sick and you visited me" (Matthew 25:36), He made clear that caring for the sick is not optional - it is a Corporal Work of Mercy, a concrete act of love for Jesus Himself present in our suffering brothers and sisters.

When a loved one is seriously ill or nearing death, families often feel an understandable hesitation about calling a priest too soon. It can feel like admitting defeat or even causing alarm. But in the life of the Church, inviting a priest in those final moments is not about giving up-it is about giving grace. Waiting too long can unintentionally deprive our loved one of one of the most profound gifts available to them: the sacraments at the hour when they are most needed.

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely a symbol or an inspiring story; it is a real event in human history. The testimony of the first witnesses and the historical circumstances surrounding it strongly affirm this truth. The Resurrection stands as the defining event of salvation history-the decisive victory by which God delivers the final blow to the powers of sin and death.

I would like to take this opportunity to share some good news regarding several important parish projects and developments. Before doing so, however, I want to thank all of you who participated in our recent Lenten Mission with Fr. James Mattaliano. It was a great success and a fruitful time of deeper reflection during our Lenten journey.

Our next lecture series event will be held on Wed, Apr 29, featuring a presentation on The Fundamentals of Discerning God's Voice by Maria Kim-Ngân Bùi.

Dear Parish Family,

Despite the secularization of our culture, there is still a widespread demand for spirituality, which expresses itself in large part as a renewed need for prayer and connection. We are seeing this in many ways, including the growing number of those returning to our Catholic faith or exploring it for the first time. As we enter our first week of Lent 2026, our parish is focused on providing you with opportunities to help you grow in prayer, strengthen your families, and stay connected and involved with your larger Catholic community.

Dear Parish Family,

I am happy to announce that the parish will be adding an indoor and outdoor gathering space this coming fall. This new space consists of a coffee shop, community gathering area, and connected outdoor patio. It will be realized by repurposing and renovating several offices, the staff kitchen, a waiting area, and two staff restrooms in the administration building. I've included construction photo renderings below.
